Identify examples of educational ICT-innovation and their impact on practice

Innovative Teaching on the deaf students with ipad. Making the teaching and learning more fun.
The innovative teaching can apply to the disabled student such as the deaf or the blind students. They are needed the ICT technology to help them. There has many new ICT technologies developed to assist the disabled student.  In the above video, we can see the deaf students can learn the Science subject by using the ipad. Special education with hand-sign to the deaf students to help them to easy to understand the subject. Images, graphics and hand-sign are important to the deaf student because they can only learn by their vision and feeling without sound. Another technology I know, for example, the Voice-over technology, which developed by Apple Inc to help the blind student for target. When they listen to the song or some voice-clips, they just press the button and then the device can speak out the detail of the song or that voice-clips such like the song's name, performer and other information as well.

  1. I am not sure whether it is an advertisement of iphone? Based on what was discussed in class, teachers have traditional roles, as well as innovative roles. In this example, it is amazing that deaf students are able to learn through iphone with the teacher's proper instruction. However, there is no communication and feedbacks, at least in this video. In general, some new technology is introduced in class. But the effects of the application should be further evaluated with more evidences.

  2. I do not think this is an advertisement of iphone because I have not seen any iphone here. However, it maybe an advertisement for ipad (just a joke). I think it should be a promotional or advertising clip from Steve Tan (a Malaysian science teacher in Federation School for Deaf)! In the video, the deaf student can get understand on teacher's instruction are via 'images', 'graphics' and 'hand-sign'. I think communication and feedback can through the device rather than 'real' communication and feedback. Because deaf student can only use their vision to learn. I think 'instruction' can point out clearly on wordings show on ipad screen, because deaf student cannot through voice instruction to tell them!

Sorry, I just point out an example only! But you think 'innovation or not' just up-to-you! Then, that's no need to so series!
